Welcome to Transvia, your powerful AI translation assistant! This guide will help you get the most out of all the features.
🌐 Main Translation Features
Multiple AI Models
Choose from various AI models including OpenAI, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek and Quen. Each model offers unique translation capabilities and may perform better with different language pairs.
How to select: Tap the AI model button in the top-left corner of the translation screen to choose your preferred model.
Language Selection
Easily select your source and target languages:
- From Language: Select the language you’re translating from. You can set this to “Auto Detect” and the AI will automatically identify the source language for you.
- To Language: Choose the target language you want to translate to from dozens of supported languages.
- Swap Languages: Tap the arrows button between the language selectors to quickly swap source and target languages.
Additional Features
- 📷 Camera Translation: Use the camera button to scan text from images, for instant extraction and then translate the text.
- 📋 Quick Paste: Tap the “Paste” button to quickly insert text from your clipboard.
- 📄 Copy Results: Easily copy translated text with one tap for use in other apps.
⚠️ Character Limit
- Text exceeding this limit will be automatically truncated.
- You can see your current character count below the input field.
- For longer texts, split them into smaller sections and translate separately.
🕒 Translation History
All your translations are automatically saved in the History tab for easy access.
View & Manage History
- View All Translations: Access all your past translations from the History tab with timestamp, AI model used, and language pair.
- Tap for Details: Tap on any history item to view the complete translation with full text and metadata.
- Swipe to Delete: Swipe left on any history item to quickly delete individual translations.
- Search: Use the search bar to find specific translations.
- Filter: Filter history by AI model using the filter button in the top-right.
- Clear All: Remove all history at once from the filters menu or Settings.
📍 Local Storage Only
Important: History is stored locally on your device. If you delete the app and reinstall it, all history will be permanently lost. History is not synced to iCloud or any cloud service.
📝 Default Translator Setup
Set Transvia as your system-wide default translator to translate selected text from any app on your device.
Setup Instructions
- Open Settings app on your device
- Go to Apps
- Select Default Apps
- Tap Translation
- Select Transvia from the list
How to Use
Once enabled:
- Select any text in Safari, Notes, Messages, or other apps
- Choose “Translate” from the context menu
- The translation will appear instantly in a popup
- In the translate sheet, you can directly change the AI Model or even the language without reopening the app.
🌐 Web Translator (Safari Extension)
Translate entire web pages, web novels, light novels, articles, and news directly in Safari using the Web Translator extension.
Initial Setup
- Open Transvia app and go to the Tools tab
- Tap on Web Translator
- Select your preferred AI Model
- Select your Target Language
- Tap “Save Settings”
- Open System Settings on your device
- Go to Apps → Safari → Extensions
- Enable “Transvia Web Translator”
- Allow it to run on websites
How to Use in Safari
- Open Safari and navigate to any website
- Tap the button on the left side of the website URL (aA icon)
- Enable Transvia and select “Allow for this site”
- Tap the Translate button that appears
- Wait for the translation to complete
- You can stop translation anytime by tapping the (Translating…) button
- After completion, the button will turn green with the title “Translated”
⚠️ Important: Refresh Required After Settings Change
If you change the AI model or target language in the Tools tab, you MUST refresh any open web pages in Safari for the changes to take effect. Simply reload the page using Safari’s refresh button or close and reopen the tab.
💡 Tips & Best Practices
📶 Internet Connection Required
All translations require an active internet connection as they use cloud-based AI services. Ensure you have a stable connection for best results.
📖 Context Matters
For better translations, provide complete sentences or paragraphs rather than isolated words. The AI understands context and will provide more accurate translations with more information.
⚙️ Set Default Preferences
Go to Settings to configure your preferred:
- Default target language
- Default AI model
This saves time on every translation as your preferences will be pre-selected.
📱 Camera Translation Tips
- Ensure good lighting when scanning text
- Hold your device steady for clearer text recognition
- The text will be automatically cropped to 2,000 characters if it’s too long
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is my translation history private?
A: Yes! All history is stored locally on your device only. Nothing is uploaded to cloud services, and your translations remain completely private.
Q: Which AI model should I use?
A: It depends on your language pair and needs. We recommend trying different models to see which gives you the best results for your specific use case.
Q: Why isn’t the Web Translator working?
A: Make sure you:
- Enabled the extension in Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions
- Allowed the extension for the specific website in Safari
- Saved your settings in the Tools tab
- Refreshed the web page after changing settings
Q: Will I lose my history if I update the app?
A: No, updating the app preserves your history. However, deleting and reinstalling the app will permanently erase all history.
